What is waterproof (WPC) flooring?

We’re going to make this very simple: waterproof flooring is luxury vinyl (LVF) with a new, advanced core called WPC (wood plastic composite).

All LVF is impervious to liquid, but this new generation offers the highest level of waterproof, while also giving you the same style and design as any LVF.

The fact that it prevents moisture build-up is a big benefit also, because humidity creates an environment for mold and mildew to start growing which, in turn, creates a lot of damage.

There are several different cores, but to make it easy to remember: All WPC is ultra-waterproof LVF, but not all luxury vinyl is WPC.

New Braunfels Flooring offers design consultation, whether it’s in your house or our showroom. When it’s in-house, it also gives the professionals an opportunity to measure and examine the room so they can provide the best information possible.

Our inventory also includes carpet, hardwood, vinyl, and ceramic and porcelain. Our showroom is in New Braunfels, TX and we also serve the communities of Canyon Lake, San Marcos, McQueeney, Seguin, and Schertz.

Breaking it down, here are the benefits

  • Style. Thanks to modern technology, including high definition photography and texturing, this material offers the most realistic look of wood, stone, and tile without the high price tag. It also means that you can get the look of wood in places where hardwood is never recommended for installation, such as a super leak-prone and humid kitchen. You can get it cut into planks or tiles, and it’s available in a wide variety of species, colors, patterns, and designs.
  • Construction. The WPC core makes this material a little thicker than the traditional one. That can mean less time to prepare the subfloor, as well as the ability to hide some of those flaws, such as unevenness or bumps.
Thicker material also means a thicker wear layer, and that’s the very thing that provides protection against scratches and dents.
  • Durability. LVF is one of the most recommended floors for kids’ rooms, because stains, lipstick, crayons, and nail polish are easy to remove. It withstands the toughest toys. When it includes a WPC core, you also don’t need to worry about dropped Kool-Aid and other liquids, because the floor is so waterproof.
  • Easy to clean. Just sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with a manufacturer-approved detergent periodically.
