Luxury Vinyl Floors Care & Maintenance
- These are general care and maintenance recommendations for Floating Luxury Vinyl Plank products. Specific Manufacturer's care and maintenance requirements supersede these.
Sweep or vacuum your floors regularly.
Protect your Luxury Vinyl Floors from sand and grit as floors may scratch from dirt and debris.
Use a cleaner that is pH neutral. This ensures cleaning will not harm your Luxury Vinyl Floors or surrounding surfaces.
Do not use wax or oil-based cleaners.
Use rugs at entrances to prevent dirt and grit from being tracked onto the Luxury Vinyl from outdoors.
Luxury Vinyl is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. Do not use steel wool or other abrasive pads to remove tough debris or stains. Steel wool may scratch your Luxury Vinyl Floors and loose steel particles may eventually damage the flooring overtime.
Standard Cleaning Guidelines
To prolong the life of your floor, use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as you notice them.
When vacuuming, use the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) to prevent accumulation of dirt and grit.
Sweep or vacuum loose dirt and dust from the floor prior to washing to prevent the Luxury Vinyl Floors from becoming muddy or leaving a residue after cleaning.
Periodically wash the floor with a Luxury Vinyl Floors floor care solution. Do not use soap + water as this could cause swelling + warping. Be sure not to leave any cleaning solution residue behind.

For rust stains, treat with lemon juice or cream of tartar.

For spots such as candle wax or chewing gum, apply a gel solvent or isopropyl alcohol and let dwell for a few minutes. Gently scrape with a plastic scraper, such as a credit card. Always clean the area afterwards to remove any residue.
Entry mats will help collect the dirt, sand, grit, and other substances such as oil, asphalt, or driveway sealer that might otherwise be tracked onto your floor.
Always be sure to protect furniture legs and stanchions with felt pads to protect the floors from scratching.
Maintain a normal indoor relative humidity level between 35% and 65% throughout the year to minimize the natural expansion and contraction of the floor.
